So Eugene is nice n' safe in Lebanon. Celvyn has a interview today at Bellevue Hospital that I hope he really gets. Next week we are going to Miami. All is good.

I wanted to say that I do feel better since doing the Master Cleanser. As long as I eat fruits, veggies and fish, my digestive system has improved. Its when I eat heavy meat like duck or steak that things don't go so well. I'm also wondering if I'm allergic to milk products. I usually have little rashes on my legs/arms and they pretty much went away during the cleanse, but now they're back. It may be all that cheese I've been eating. Damn french cheese, its my weakness. I think I have to do a test and see.

I lost 7 lbs on the fast which was nice. But I didn't do it to lose weight. Will I ever do it again? I could if I was feeling sick. Not for a while though. I likey my food :)

Babies, babies and more babies

Baby Paige

Baby Gina

It seems everyone's having babies lately. Oh no, not me. Not yet.

Anyway, visited my old friend from Miami the other day, Jen, and met her little girl Gina Rose. What a cutie. It seems all the babies I've met in the last couple of months are just happy, smiley cuties. Haven't met a cranky baby yet. But maybe thats only because I see them for a couple hours and then I'm outta there.

Gina Rose was a doll. Almost walking without help, just needs that extra bit of confidence and she'll be running around raising hell soon enough.

My boss Mike brought in his new little one Paige yesterday. Another cutie. Only 3 1/2 months and so full of wonder and smiles. Everything babies do is cute.

I hope I don't have an ugly baby. That would totally suck.

Food

Had a great birthday weekend with David. Food, food and more food.

Saturday night we went to Gascogne with Henry, Sarah/Larry and Matthew. Sat in the back garden which felt like we were in a different world. Great foie gras. Yummy wine. Gascogne never dissapoints.

Sunday the family came in and we had dinner at one of our favorite Italian places Gennaro. Amazing northern Italian food, reasonable prices. Everyone loved their food. Lamb and laughs was had by all.

Monday we both took off of work to celebrate David's 32nd year. What a crappy day. And whats with NOTHING being open on Mondays? No museums, no stores. We went all the way over to West Chelsea to an old favorite Wild Lily Tea Room on 22nd btwn 10th and 11th Ave. CLOSED. WTF?? So annoying. But we did manage to swing by Billy's Bakery which has been voted as having the #1 cupcake in NYC. I was skeptical at first. I am a diehard Magnolia fan. But let me tell you, Billy's IS the best. Perfect ratio of frosting to cake. Moist, but not so moist that it sticks to the paper. It was perfect! Bye bye Magnolia and long lines.

Monday night I had made reservations at Gramercy Tavern for the main birthday dinner, just the hubby and I. OH...MY...GOD. Sooooo good. Sooooo good. We took a cab from our apt and drove right through Central Park. I so rarely go through the park and it was beautiful. A light rain was falling. There was barely anyone there except for a few runners. Just breathtaking.

Arrived at the restaurant. We were seated immediately which was nice. I was impressed right off the bat. Our waiter was an Aussie! G'day mate! We decided to get the chef's tasting menu, always a good choice for a special occasion. We also got a different 1/2 glass of wine with each course.

The food was amazing. But even more amazing is we can't really remember what we ate. We got a little more liquored up than we anticipated. But the whole evening was perfect and the dinner lasted about 3 1/2 hrs. I do remember the waiter bringing out a cheese board with about 20 different cheese to choose from (he even gave us an extra slice since it was a special occasion. oh yeah-I got the Aussie hook up!)

We we brought 2 desserts. Then a plate of cookies with Happy Birthday written in chocolate. A very memorable, special night.

So I'm completely off the Master Cleanse. Have I eaten yet? no. Why? Because my tummy hurts. I can't even drink my orange juice. All I had yesterday was 16 oz of OJ. Maybe today will be better. Tonight I'm actually allowed to have fresh vegtable soup. I've planned it all out. Hale n' Healthy soups, here I come!

I'm getting really excited about our trip to Miami. I've booked a hotel for Wed & Thurs night in South Beach, The Avalon. Its RIGHT on South Beach on Ocean Drive. I can't wait to wake up, cross the street, and go swimming in the ocean. I'm also looking forward to seeing my wonderful nephews and doing some snorkeling in the Keys. Aaah, life is good.

Woo-hoo, I'm off the cleanse, and I'm lovin' it!

DAY 9-MY LAST DAY!!!!!!!!!

I should do this for 10 days but whatever. 9 is good enough. I need to prepare my body for all the birthday dinners this wknd in honor of David. So I am so friggin' happy to actually have something different tomorrow. Well, kinda, I'll be drinking orange juice instead of lemon but at this point any change is good change. Woohoo!

Oh, and do I feel better? No. But I guess I'll know once I start eating real food.

DAY 8

Blooming Dogwoods @ Central Park on Sunday

Freddy Adu doin' it @ Giants Stadium!

Day 8. Still hungry. Still unhappy. But only 2 days to go and its feeding time! Actually, I can't eat real food until Friday. But I still won't have to drink that damn lemonade anymore. Hallelujah!

Wknd was great, would've been better if I could eat but whatever.

We went to a Soccer game on Saturday. Saw the great Freddy Adu score his first goal. Man he's awesome. He did one spin around move that wow'd us all. But I must say-I was really missing those pretzels, hot dogs and sodas. It was torcherous.

Even more torcherous was the bar we went to after the game. We ended up at Sky Bar in Korea town. Just a little know bar on top of La Quinta hotel, but with an amazing view of the Empire State Bldg. Its just 1 block away and so in your face. The bartender is this cool guy who's always got the Bob Marley jammin' and the drinks a mixin'. Everyone got hungry after a while so we actually ordered pizza to be delivered to the bar. I went inside and cried. But everyone enjoyed so I was happy. Kinda.

Sunday was another glorious day in NYC. We went to Central Park with a blanket and just layed on the grass and soaked in the warm sunshine and blooming trees. Such a gorgeous day.

Then we went over to the Met and saw Chuck Close. It was just aiight. Same image over and over again. Nothing that spectacular. I don't really know what all the fuss was about. But interesting nonetheless.

Rented Kill Bill Vol. 1 last night. Not nearly as good as it is on the big screen. I think we need to buy a 40" TV soon.

DAY 7

SO...FREAKIN'...HUNGRY

April 17, 2004

DAY 6

Wow. I can't believe I'm still on this damn thing. I can't believe I haven't eaten food since Easter dinner. And I can't believe how freakin' good KILL BILL Vol. 2 is.

The audience was so hyped up last night. A fight almost broke out in front of us because these 2 guys wouldn't move over a seat so a couple could sit together. But the 'muscle' was brought in and they finally moved.

I was actually a little teary eyed at the end. This was a true masterpiece. Uma and David Carradine were simply amazing.

Perfection makes me weepy.

DAY 5

UGH. Feel so tired today. And a little weak. Last night I was SO ready to quit, but David told me to stick with it so I will give it a go. One day at a time. Once I get through the wknd it'll be easy. Weekdays are always easier.

What sucks is once I finish the fast, I have to slowly go back to real food. Meaning, day 1 is ONLY fresh orange juice all day. Day 2 is OJ and then a fruit salad. Day 3 is Fruit salad, OJ and a vegetable salad for dinner. Then after that the food fest is on baby!

SERENITY NOW!

April 15, 2004

DAY 4

Day 4. I passed day 3 which everyone says is the hardest. I disagree, it was no harder than the others. But my tummy is hurting this morning due to that nasty tea I had last night that made me quite unhappy in the middle of the night.

So only 6 more days to go after today. That doesn't seem so bad. I'm almost halfway done. The weekend will be the hardest as its always a food fest. BAH!

We've been watching tons of Buffy lately which really helps me to not think about the cleansing. Henry lent us Season 1 & 2. Last night I saw the best episode yet-Angel. Angel is incredibly hot. And the whole episode was great, especially all the sexual tension building up btwn him and Buffy. I'm diggin' this show.

More please Henry :)

So this cleansing aint all bad. I actually had a more difficult time on the South Beach Diet than this fasting. But I haven't done the internal salt water bathing yet. Thats where it gets real nasty.

Had a good laugh watching Bush struggle last night through all the media questions. It was like he was talking to a classroom of 6th graders. Everything he says is so freakin' simplistic and retarded. Repeating the same thing over and over. Please please please get him out of office. I'm embarrassed to have him as our president. Such a loser.

I finally found a Master Cleanser chat room. Woohoo! Now I can share all the in's and out's of my cleansing with my new found 'friends'. I finally feel like I belong!

April 13, 2004

Shaina just called to tell me she was accepted into Queens College Masters Program. YOU GO GIRL!!

Cleansing

I'm cleansing. This is day 2 and I'm feeling pretty darn good. But my wrist hurts like hell from juicing all those damn lemons last night. And those organic lemons are pricey-$1.99 a pound! But in the end, I hope it'll all be worth it. No pun intended ;-)

Easter Bunny?

Had a nice wknd. Saturday was such a glorious day. Walked around the park scoping out my Mom's wedding ceremony location. Thats right, Mom's getting married. Finally. She's decided to have it here in NYC at the Conservatory Garden in Central Park, followed by dinner at Tavern on the Green. Small event, probably 20 people or so. Kinda weird though, going to my Mom's wedding.

Ate lunch at a great little place in the West Village called La Foccacia. Really tasty brunch menu. Awesome rosemary foccacia. Just such a pleasant little treasure in such a beautiful neighborhood. It was so good that I chose to pass up Magnolia cupcakes!

Easter Sunday we got up at the crack of dawn to make it to LI in time for Easter breakfast at my cousin's house-9:30am to be exact. Played the traditional egg game. Everyone picks a hard boiled egg out of the basket. Then you begin to 'fight' with everyone else one at a time by hitting one end of your egg onto the other person. The winner is the person who has at least one uncracked end at the end of the game. Great fun. Little Alex won, David was second place. Then we do the traditional Latvian vodka shots to get the day moving. Mmmm, nothing like orange vodka at 9:30am.

There was some bad news. Something very disturbing did happen yesterday to my 7 year old cousin Kimmie...

Kimmie-Mommy, I have to talk to you right now about something VERY important. In private.

Mommy-Ok Kimmie.

Kimmie-Mommy, is there or isn't there an Easter Bunny. I need to know right now.

Mommy-Uh, no Kimmie, there isn't.

Kimmie-I saw Uncle Mike hiding the eggs in the backyard. I'm very dissapointed. How could you lie to me for seven years?

Mommy-I'm sorry honey, but you had fun for those years didn't you?

Kimmie-Yes. Next thing you'll tell me is there's no Tooth Fairy. That would REALLY be bad. At least she's real.

Mommy-Of course she is honey.

Happy Easter!

Mmmm, lemon-aid

I've been thinking about doing some type of internal cleansing. Time Out NY actually has an article about the different cleansings (colon/kidney/liver) available. So I think I will buy Master Cleanser and give it a read and then a try. Lately I've been feeling unhealthy. Things are, um, moving properly, but I just feel kinda icky inside-and I really think I need a cleansing. This is the cleansing Robin Quivers from Howard Stern has been using and she swears it changed her life. She has never felt healthier and she looks fantastic. And all the customer reviews on Amazon sound amazing.

I wonder if I can do this?

In other news, I've given up on Celvyn's blog.

Nutty Goodness

My new favorite snack is Mrs. Mays Cashew Crunch. It was introduced to me by my co-worker Mike Y-long lost brother of Henry. We think.

Sooo tasty, very filling, and only 4 grams of sugar! Dairy-free, cholesterol-free, wheat-free but certainly not taste free. Apparently they're found in health food stores and gourmet markets. I'm gonna get me some!

DAYEINU!

Last night we celebrated the first night of Passover at the Huntington household. Henry, Eugene, Karen (Jenny) came along. Everything was great-except the lamb. I hate lamb. I was bummed lamb was served but everyone else seemed to really enjoy so thats all that matters. Someone said they wish they had mint jelly with the lamb. I suggested using toothpaste-same thing really.

We sung songs, giggled and had a really nice time. Time just seemed to really fly last night. It seemed as soon as we got there and sat down, it was time to leave. Passover should be an all day event. Maybe next year.

Now I'm on a mission to buy all the fancy matzohs I can find. Fresh Direct has a great selection.

My wedding photographer Daisy just called me to tell me a photo of me now appears in Newport Life Magazine's special Annual Wedding Edition. Now I have to run out and buy it. I'm a star!
