Withdrawl

Anyone who knows me knows I love the following things, in this order:

1. My husband/My child
2. The Cure

I guess friends and family fit somewhere in between the two, but it is incredibly meaningful to me to listen to, and more importantly to see The Cure live. This weekend I did just that. Twice.

I am now in serious Cure withdrawl. Friday we saw them at MSG where I landed me some sweet 12th row floor tickets. Not the 2nd row as I had so many years ago at Jones Beach, but nearly as good. Nearly. Saturday was at Radio City. What a gorgeous venue. Of course both shows were fantastic, MSG much more so as I found it more high energy and danceable. But I could watch Robert sing the National Anthem and I'd be mesmerized.

There's something about seeing them live that just gives me such joy and fills my heart with love. It's probably partly reminiscing about days of long ago, but more than that I just feel every song is filled with such raw emotion and musical genius that I will never tire of them. Everything he does is just so haunting. Although I didn't get some of the songs I longed for, it was still an incredibly fulfilling experience.

So I leave you with the lyrics to Homesick. By the way, Henry took some great videos at MSG. Enjoy.

hey hey! just one more and i'll walk away all
the everything you win turns to nothing today
and i forget when to move when my mouth is this
dry and my eyes are bursting hearts in a blood-
stained sky oh it was sweet it was wild and oh
how we...i trembled stuck in honey honey
cling to me so just one more just one more go
inspire in me the desire in me to never go home

oh just one more and i'll walk away all the
everything you win turns to nothing today so
just one more just one more go inspire in me
the desire in me to never go home

Firefly

Last night as we headed out to Target for a late night shopping run, I spotted my first firefly of the season. I always find it so very exciting when I see that first green flash of light.

Ah, Summer at last.

Bye Bye Tim

Like many people I was both shocked and saddened to hear today's news of the death of Tim Russert. He is one of the few political journalist's out there who I truly admired and respected, and who was able to keep any biasness out of his commentary and interviews, a rarity these days. For some reason it really struck me hard. Being so into the political race this year we've been watching Tim almost every night on MSNBC. It's almost like he was part of our family. Every Sunday we would tape Meet The Press and then watch when we put Sophie down for her nap while enjoying our morning coffee. We actually looked forward to it. It's just such a shame that he's gone and it is really a great loss for the news & political world.

And he didn't even get to witness our first Black U.S. President.

YES WE CAN

YES WE WILL.

FINALLY.

Now if Hillary can just admit defeat, gather up what little pride she has left and leave the podium, we can move on.
