Off to Huntington

So this weekend we are off to Long Island to stay at David's parents and to attend the wedding of David's 2nd cousin. Unfortunately it's an adults only event and our darling Sophie can't attend. I must admit I'm bummed as I would've loved to dress her up for the event as well as have her meet her cousin's that have yet to see her. But luckily my cousin Cindy will watch her and she will get to spend some time with them. We plan to stay out there until Monday night and hopefully will visit our favoirte park Caumsett and take a nice stroll with Omi. Last time we were there Sophie was still in my belly.

Her Omi is coming to visit for the weekend too which will be nice. She will be very surprised to see how her Grandaughter has changed in just a month! Last time Omi was here Sophie wasn't smiling or cooing. Big changes indeed.

I had my bi-annual Dermatologist checkup yesterday. My Dr asked if I had the baby and how she was sleeping (the question that is most asked). People always are shocked when I tell them Sophie sleeps 10 hours. I almost feel guilty telling people now! I also wonder if I'm jinxing myself too. Sure enough, last night Sophie wouldn't go to sleep until around 9 (usually goes down about 8) and then woke up SCREAMING her head off at 4:30AM, about an hour and a half or so before her normal time. But luckily after she ate she went back to sleep for another 3 1/2 hours. Still, I better keep my mouth shut!

Never Enough

So I got three pairs of tickets for The Cure show in September. Henry is taking one pair. But it seems that no matter where I sit it will never be good enough! It's like a disease, frantically hitting refresh to see if I could get even better seats than the ones I just puchased!

Years ago Cel and I had 2nd row seats at Jones Beach. NOTHING will beat that. Well, except first row, but, come on now. I will try again tomorrow to get even closer seats as I still don't feel completely satisfied with our section. Oh Robert, can't you send me a pair of front row center tickets? I know you miss holding my hand...

UPDATE: After numerous tries I gots myself 13th row. Yeah baby! Yeah! Of course it's just a pair of tickets and I will be going with Dave (who I think is only going to keep an eye on me so that I don't go home with Robert). Awesome tickets indeed, but I will miss my Cure buddy Cel : (

Oh yeah!

The Cure is coming to town. Thanks to LeAnn for filling me in.

Ahhhh, Sophie's first concert. Well, probably not but she WILL grow up a Cure fan.

I am ecstatic to say the least. Now if I can only touch him again all will be right with the world...

Papa & Sophie

Taken tonight at 72nd St waiting for Uncle Henry...

Sophie Video

Here's a video of Baby Sophie in her crib and me talking to her in a goofy parentese voice. Sorry it's so dark-she doesn't like the lights too bright when she first wakes up. And it also looks even darker once loaded onto You Tube. What can you do-it's a free service.

Aint she cute?

'Insert nifty title name here'

I want to post more often, I really do. But when my days are filled with nothing but Sophie I don't know what to write about. I couldn't even think of a title for this post! I could write about how she is so darn cute, but we already know that. She turned onto one side the other day. She also grabbed onto a toy and lifted it to her mouth. She is also trying to babble a bit more which is neat. Oh, and she's starting to sleep without being swaddled finally. And boy is she a good sleeper-9-10 straight hours a night, wakes to eat, then sleeps another three. Throughout the day she takes 45 minute naps every 2 hours.

See, told you I have nothing else to say!

I've been trying get some exercise to lose the last 15 lbs of pregnancy weight. The first 25 came off relatively easy what with the craziness of the first couple weeks, the lack of sleep and the being oh so busy with Sophie stage. We've been taking daily walks in Central Park. No running yet, but that is coming soon dammit. The weather is so nice lately, and it's really relaxing walking through the park and hearing the wind blow through the trees. It's also great to listen to music on my iPod again. Oh how I missed my Cure.

Pics of the week

Here are some pictures I took this week. Sophie smiles all the time now and it's so darn cute!

The last pic is of her room which we've finally finished. We put these great decals on the wall that we got from Blik. Sophie loves to look at them, although she usually prefers looking at herself in the crib mirror : )

We ended up buying a Breathable Bumper for the crib as the otherr day I awoke to find Sophie's chubby legs stuck between the slats.

They got me

While watching Metal Mania on VH1 Classics today I saw this ad. And they got me. I don't know if it was the sappy Sarah McLachlan song, the images of poor dogs and cats who were rescued after being abused, my love of animals or just the fact that I'm a new Mom and full of emotion, but they got me. So I am now a proud monthly donating member of the ASPCA.

And I feel pretty darn good about it.

Won't you give too? Click here to donate. You'll be glad you did.

I guess Sophie likes her crib

She slept 10 1/2 hours straight, woke up to eat, and now is still sleeping for another 2 hours plus. Wow-I wish I slept so well!

Today is yet another hot Friday. It seems every Friday here in NYC is 90 degrees plus. Unfortunately Sophie is quite the sweaty baby so we'll have to limit our excursions or at least stop into a store or two to cool off. Which is fine by me as my ankle/foot is messed up and I can't walk too much anyway. It seems the arthritis like pains that plagued me several years ago throughout the Summer have returned. It was never officially diagonosed even with the numerous doctors and specialists I saw. Sounds like a case for Dr. House.

Happy two months Sophie! Mama loves you : )

Old

Lots of people getting older this week. Eugene is old. Celvyn is REALLY old. Like almost dead old. And even little Sophie will be two whole months this coming Friday.

Last night she slept a whole night in her crib. All by herself. A whole 6 1/2 hours. Then woke, ate, and slept another 6 hours! She was fine. It was ME that couldn't sleep! I was so worried that the monitor wouldn't work right, that I wouldn't hear her when she woke, that her legs would get stuck in the rails. Of course none of that happened. But now I'm so damn tired as I would wake with every peep she made or any movement. Hopefully tonight will go smoother. Still, I miss having her next to us in the bassinet. But she was starting to outgrow it so the time has come.

Oh, and a Very Happy Birthday to Monada! Go Mets!

TV

Sopranos was good last night. No, it was amazing. Such a stellar cast. Such excellent writing/directing. Such tension! And only one more episdode left. Forever. What a shame. It's depressing that all my TV shows have ended for the season. No more Lost. No more American Idol. No more Battlestar. No more Sopranos. What's a Mom on maternity leave to do now while her child is napping? One word: House. I have become a House addict. I first starting taping episodes when I was up all night pumping for Sophie. Now it's pretty much all I watch if there is nothing else good on daytime TV, which is pretty much everyday.

Sophie now takes only 45 minutes naps throughout the day. Perfect as that is about how long an episode of House is when you have the ability to fast forward through the commercials. Oh DVR I love you so : )

Happy Birthday Eugene. Hope you are Tango-ing your ass off in Argentina. Coochie coochie.
