good, bad and the hot

How good was Lost last night? Finally an episode to write home about. This show confuses the hell out of me and I love it. Gives me chills just thinking about it.

How bad was American Idol? As every reject sang we were quickly reminded why they didn't make it.

How hot was Bo in those leather pants? I hope we get more Bo.

Return of the Crap

So we saw Star Wars Friday night. What crap. Can't this man do at least one movie right? It wasn't a complete waste as seeing the final battle btwn Anakin & Obi Wan was good (nice touch w/ the legs) and of course the suiting up of DV was awesome but it's a shame I had to sit through 2 hours of possibly the worst dialogue ever written just to see those few good parts. Yoda was a little too animated but cute nonetheless. And what is with that whole crap about why he turned. COME ON! I truly believe Lucas thinks were all idiots and needs crap spelled out for us and that we'd fall for such lame excuses to become evil (I'm trying not to give anything away here for people who haven't seen it yet-CELVYN!).

Anyhoo, rest of the wknd was great. First wknd where we didn't have to go to LI or anywhere else. It was all our time. Woke up late, jogged in the park, had dinner with the family in the East Village at Pylos for Matthew's birthday. Sunday we went to B&N to get paint ideas for our new apt. We're thinking a nice sage green for the bdrm, a dark red for the hallway/entryway. Still can't decide on the living room or the second bedroom. I can't wait to move.

This wknd is our trip to Dominican Republic. Weather forecast? Showers and thunderstorms. Hopefully it will be passing storms that will just cool us off from the blinding heat as we lay by the pool with our pina coladas.

YEY

We got the apartment across the hall, 2A. So come July 1st we will be the proud new renters of our first two bedroom apartment. This one is much brighter, with two windows in both the living room and the bedroom, a nice roomy living room with an exposed brick wall, and a second bedroom with which we still don't know what to do with until the baby comes, which is no time too soon. What are we going to do with all this space? It's so very exciting. We have a whole extra closet! Oh the possibilities.

The end of May I've been waiting for is finally here and things are finally looking up. New apt, trip to DR next weekend, Doves tonight, Star Wars tomorrow. Life is good!

Bo is god!

Omigod how good was Bo Bice last night? That man is amazing. Vonzell sucked as usual. She needs to go. Carrie was good but not great. I don't think any of those songs really showcased her amazing voice. But Bo. Bo Bo Bo. He made me melt. Luckily I DVR'd it and was able to watch it again. He gave me goosebumps. He really showed that he has soul last night. And those eyes. Oh those eyes.

I LOVE YOU BO BICE!!

NIN

Went to Nine Inch Nails last night with Cel, Hen and LeAnn. David bowed out because he had too much work to do (but we all know it's because the concert would have been too much fun). The show was great. Such a great venue. I really have a hard time seeing anyone play in large venues anymore. I'm so spoiled by the smaller ones here. I hate seats. All concerts should be standing general admission only. How could anyone go to a NIN concert and sit down?

The place was filled with goofy guys in black NIN t-shirts. Where are all the female fans? But LeAnn and I were there to represent. The bass was awesome and so powerful I could feel my ribs bouncing around inside me. Trent was great in all his screaming glory. I don't know how he does this every night. Such a powerful performance. There was a lot of energy and a great crowd, except for the few guys who think they can go shirtless and sweaty and slide up against people. So freakin' nasty. And what's with all the idiots with the cameras. So many people preferred to take pictures of the performance than actually see it for themselves. Or call people on the phone to hear it instead of hearing it for themselves. So annoying.

On our way out I looked behind me and David Bowie was sitting maybe 5 feet from where we were standing. He looked awesome as usual. But I felt bad for him as I noticed people were staring at him throughout the show.

It was great to see Trent again and relive my young n' wild days back in Miami FLA. Even if he has beefed up and had a little too much muscle for my liking.

Happy birthday Trent. You still rock my world.

Attack of the giant afro baby

Saturday Dave & I took a ride up to da Bronx for a backyard BBQ. Yes, our friends actually have a (small) backyard. They even had a 1 foot border of grass surrounding it!

Anyways...BBQ was fun. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, steak, corn, potato salad-you get the picture. Food was good. Weather was great. Everyone brought their kids. The star of the show was of course Angel "Giant Afro" Carrilo. The child ran around for 5 hours straight. Only stopping for a chicken nugget. The child is 18 months and looks like he's three. Such a delight. And Donna is almost 8 months preggo with baby #2. I even felt and SAW the baby move in her belly. So amazing. I'm starting to look forward to having one of my own. When the time comes...

New apt?

So our landlord called today and asked if we are renewing our lease. We told him we're not and asked what 2 bedrooms they have available. Turns out they have a 2 bdrm open in our bldg, on our floor, right across the hall. Now the question is, do we take it? The price is right. We wouldn't have to hire movers. There is no brokers fee to pay. No more looking. We've seen the apartment and it's nice. But I was looking forward to discovering a new neighborhood. Having new neighbors.

Hm, decisions, decisions...

Not enough time

There is just not enough time to do anything. I hate that I have to be at work for 9 hours. Why can't I have a 9-5 job? That extra hour could really benefit me.

Last night I got home at 6:40. Went running from 7-8:15 in Central Park. Got home, showered, helped David make dinner from 8:30-9. Ate from 9-9:15. Watched Lost on my DVR (good one by the way). Then my nephew called at 10:30 and I helped him with blog stuff until 11:30. Ugh. Then it was past my bedtime and I woke up once again tired as hell. It seems lately I wake up in the middle of the night because I am bored with sleeping. Or maybe I'm just bored with my dream and want to move onto the next one. Whatever the reason I woke up several time and was exhausted when I finally had to get up for work.

What I'm thinking is, how am I ever going to have time to do what I want to do AND raise children. It is very scary and I totally understand what Rachel means about the fear of having children and losing one's sense of self. So scary.

Apt #1

We viewed our first potential apartment last night. I know it's a little early still, but it was for a July 1st lease so it was right. It was advertised as a Gramercy Park find. I don't know if I'd consider 23rd between Lex and Park Gramercy Park, but whatever. It would be close for David and I both to get to work. And it was $2G so we thought we'd take a looksy.

The place was OK. Not horrible as I had expected. It had a very large eat in kitchen. Large, yet absolutely NO counterspace whatsoever. And really crappy cabinets. But it did have room enough to put a little island and a decent sized table. The living room was really tiny and square. First bedroom OK size, and the master bedroom was very large. But in all the place was just too dark, and too loud being right on 23rd street. You know, 23rd street with ALL those buses and trucks and cars. Way too loud for me and my delicate sleeping.

The only plus side was it was the top floor of a 3 story building, so no dinosaur neighbors to bother me. But we'll pass on this one.

Next!

Açai & Green Vibrance

There are two new nutritional finds that I have been very excited about and feel the need to share. One is the Açai berry and the other is Green Vibrance.

Per the website, Green Vibrance should aid in the following, all of which I need:
*Nutritional Powerhouse
*Strengthens Immunity
*Improves Digestion
*Improves Circulation
*Fights Stress
*Builds Energy & Endurance

Basically you take a scoop of this nasty green powder and mix it in with 8oz of your favorite fruit juice and drink (fast)down. Doesn't taste too bad.

The Açai berry has more antioxidants than wild bluberries and pomegranate, both of which were believed to be the antioxidant leaders until recently. The Açai berries are only found in Brazil and are now being imported into the US. I bought the frozen berry packs and have been making smoothies with banana and strawberries a few times a week. It tastes awesome and is different from any other berry I have tried. You can also buy the drinks (the mango/banana Açai is great) at any health food store.

Although our buddy Eric recently told me that more antioxidant isn't neccessarily beneficial, I refuse to believe it and will continue to fill my body with as much healthy stuff as possible.

I believe I will live to be over 100. Yeah baby!

HOT NOW!

Left work early yesterday to go to the doctor. And I was right, I have a sinus infection. So I got a script for antibiotics and started to make my way home. But something caught my eye. A bright red neon sign was beckoning me to cross the street. To enter through the doors. That's right. They were HOT NOW at Krispy Kreme. I entered. Two hot now please. I was told they wouldn't be ready for another 10 minutes. So I sat and waited, staring at the conveyor belt. All the while parents with little kids came in and ordered crappy cold doughnuts. What were they thinking? How can anyone choose a cold, yucky doughnut when they are just minutes away from a hot now original glazed?

Finally they began wheeling out. The counterlady kept looking at me. I guess I looked really miserable sitting there with my infection and my hungry tummy. When they finally came out she bagged the first two up for me and told me to enjoy. I handed her my money and she said "no, it's ok. You waited so patiently. Go ahead."

So I did. They were amazing. Exactly what was needed to make me feel a little better.

Bike NY

Yesterday Dave, Henry, Celvyn, Nancy and I did Bike NY. And I have a sore tushy to show for it!

We started late as I wasn't about to line up at 8am in the pouring rain just so we can stand there for 1 hr waiting for the 30,000 bikers to move. So we joined in at 42nd street at 9:30. Little did we know we were the back end of the group. Not much behind us but cleaning crew. Zoiks! So we hauled ass to move up as much as we could. Lost Cel & Nancy along the way but the good ol' cellphone kept us connected.

In all the bike tour was good. Saw some nasty wipeouts along the way. Nothing like fear to keep you moving. We all even managed to do the Verrazano Narrows Bridge without stopping or walking up like those other wusses. Even with the 20mph winds that kept pushing us back. We strong like oxen.

Then it all went to hell. We arrived at the 'festival' site in Staten Island. Festival my ass. Nowhere to sit. Long long long lines for food. Nothing for free. Complete waste. We wanted to eat so we decided to leave and take the ferry back and have lunch in Manhattan, where the food is good. So we waited. And waited. Along with thousands of other cyclists we stood with our bikes. Three hours later. Yes, THREE HOURS LATER we finally boarded that damned ferry. They stuck us in the carhold area like cattle. We got to Manhattan, walked (sore tushies) over to South Street Seaport and had a overpriced touristy dinner at Heartland Brewery and then went home.

I woke up with my eyes all pink, gooky and swollen. My face puffed. I think I have a sinus infection. Just like the last time I did this damn bike tour.

Now I'm off to the doctor. BAH.
